(Order Daisy Cake) Students will continue to prepare their SRA Shark Tank business plan. Due Thursday. Train for various positions for the Ranger Station. Prepare order forms and letters for the daily lunch program. Thursday- No Question of the Day. Students will present their business plans to the SRA Sharks. Groups of students will be the “sharks” and ask various questions to determine if they will invest in their business.

Tuesday-
No Question of the Day this week. This week we will be preparing for the beginning of our Ranger Station Lunch Program. Throughout the week students will update their resumes, interview for desired positions, and create an ordering proof for all SRA students to use daily to order their lunch. During the flex time students will continue to work on the SRA Shark Tank Challenge finalizing their basic business plan. Thursday- TedTalks video “Meet the new Meat” http://www.tedxhaarlem.com/speakers/mark-post No entry in students T.P.A. today Continue with Tuesday’s activities while various students will be trained for their hired positions. Friday- Continue training students on their positions. Finalize the SRA Shark Tank challenge. Students will present their plans Thursday Oct. 3 Tuesday- T.P.A.(Think, Ponder, Analyze) review ppt. Question of the Day- Do you think high school GPA is a valid predictor of workplace readiness? Introduce the “Shark Tank” business plan proposal. Students will work in groups of 2-3 to create a fictitious business including objective, slogan, logo, and basic business planning. Due Monday 9/23 Today students will work on - -The name of your business A brief overview of its objectives Brainstorming regarding where it will be located, its employee structure, likely customers and its future objectives. You must include a slogan and logo.
Thursday-
Question of the Day- What would be the biggest thing that could prevent you from pursuing a business idea? How could you overcome this? Show a Shark Tank episode- “Daisy Cakes” for students to visualize how they will be proposing their business. Today students will work on- Create an Amazing Business Card and One Page Advertisement. The card must include: A Logo The name of your business Your full name Your phone number, cell number, email address ****A catchy slogan The ad must include: The elements from above, including the slogan. An attention getter A reason for the advertisement i.e. a special offer etc. Friday- Question of the Day- Should companies monitor employees’ personal social media accounts? Introduce Target Marketing Students will continue to work on their business plan- 1. What is your industry? (Resource based? Customer service? Marketing?) What are some of the unique characteristics and trends found in this industry? 2. What are the specific features of your product or service? What does it do? 3. What are the benefits of your product of service? What will it provide for your customers? What is “in it” for them? 4. What is your market gap? (What need in the market place will your business fill?) 5. Who will your target customers be? What is your competitive advantage? What will make your business better than your competition? Welcome to Business II, Foundations of Business! You will learn the basics of entrepreneurship, marketing, accounting, and economics all while actually running a real business. The only homework this week is to complete the Student Questionnaire found on the Home page of our class site, gather all supplies needed for this class by Friday, and read, sign, have your parent/guardian sign, and return the Course Syllabus no later then Friday, September 13, 2013.
